cooking rangesThe range cooker has always been at the heart of the traditional British countryside kitchen. With enamelled cast iron doors an lids, they provide the home with a constant supply of hot water and the perfect heat for cooking. Today, you can recreate the same ambience but with the advantage of incorporating the latest control technology, together with a choice of fuel types, outputs and flue options. Balanced flue versions are now available for the kitchen without a chimney.
Range cookers need access for maintenance. Ensure that you have enough space to fit the cooker you want before you buy it. Remember that you need space to get at the controls too. Also, some range cookers do not have a built in plinth.
Make sure that you choose the right cooker to suit your needs and lifestyle. They vary from the basic 'cooker only' to the all-singing-and-dancing, 'cooking, hot water and central heating', models. Choosing the correct fuel type is equally as important. Having a woodburning central heating cooking range sounds great, but is it a realistic proposition when you live in Fulham?
